Kick Up Your Heels and Tune Into Dancing With the Stars!
If I don't watch DANCING WITH THE STARS then I'm out of the conversation. It's a show that connects grandparents with grandchildren because of the broad appeal. And if you think it's just about dancing you've never seen some of the "stars" who stay on after much better dancers are voted off.
Most of the contestants are on because they want to revive their careers, or be known in another way. On the first season John O'Hurley's dancing not only surprised viewers, but also his quick and funny wit. He has been the only runner-up who received, and won, a rematch because of fan's demands. We now see him more of him in front of the camera, on stage, and in commercials. Look what the show did for Marie Osmond and her brother Donnie. (Is he paying ET to be a fixture?)
Each season brings another contestant that surprises and delights. George Hamilton got my vote many times just because I wanted to hear his clever comments and watch his dance characters. Never did I like Jerry Springer, but he won me over on DANCING, just not to watch his show.
One of my all time favorites was Willa Ford. I had never heard of her, but thought she improved greatly during her short time to become an amazing dancer. Tears were in my eyes when she was voted off the show. My choice doesn't often win, and sometimes I don't think the judges are fair, but they know more than I do.
The three judges are also a part of the interest since they can be such characters themselves. Tom Bergeron is a good choice for host. He has taken us through more than one uncomfortable moment. The professional dancers continue to amaze me. They have put up with so much. Ashley DelGrosso deserved extra pay for dancing with Master P! I'm so glad Louis Van Amstel is coming back on this season. I'd rather watch him dance than anyone!
